Hatzel & Buehler, and Bluestone Communications were awarded the contract to perform electrical and structured cabling work on the UPMC West Mifflin Outpatient Center in West Mifflin, Pa. The project consisted of renovating a one-story, 46,000 sq. ft former retail space into a medical outpatient center highlighted with forty-eight exam rooms and four operating rooms. Offering heart and vascular, diagnostic imaging, women’s imaging, and pediatric urgent care services.
Hatzel & Buehler’s scope of work included the installation of CTs, MRIs, and X-Ray machines, Normal & Emergency Power, Electrical Distribution, Site Utility Work, LED Lighting & Day Light Harvesting, Nurse call, Fire Alarm, Security and Access Control. Hatzel & Buehler was able to save cost by choosing equipment with quick ship programs and utilizing vendors with in-stock items when possible. Additionally, we commissioned the utility company early on to supply power to the job site. By performing all of these tasks ahead of time, Hatzel & Buehler was able to accelerate the schedule for the job.
Bluestone’s scope of work included the installation of the horizontal data cabling, security cabling, copper backbone cabling, fiber backbone cabling, and build out of MDF and IDF closets. Bluestone was able to save costs by developing a cable tray system to distribute cabling throughout the facility and provide for a pathway to easily install new cabling in the future.
